Imagine your daughter standing tall and proud of who she is. Now, imagine her feeling comfortable in her own skin and confident of the way she thinks, feels and presents herself.

Sadly, many young girls struggle with this as they develop self-esteem and confidence issues as they grow into the teenage years.

This is why we have specially developed our self-empowerment camp, You Go, Girl, especially for girls aged 6-12 to boost their self-esteem and confidence. It will be held at our Midtown (Hougang) outlet and we will be taking in just 10 girls!

In this 3-day face-to-face programme, we are empowering young girls to boost their self-esteem through various interactive, artistic and reflective activities. These activities have been carefully designed by Artistic Strategies Academy’s founder, Claudine Fernandez, family and children counsellor, Yuyun Tan and financial advisor, Nasirah Banu.

‘You Go, Girl’ Itinerary
Day 1: Me and my self-esteem
The girls will examine their current self-perception and how others perceive them. We will be guiding the girls to create a new self-perception that is filled with positivity.

Day 2: My aspirations
Our facilitators will lead the girls to visualise, discuss and express their aspirations for the future. We will then invite them to create their ideal self in the future and be encouraged to improve their relationship with themselves.

Day 3: My life and financial decisions
The girls will be given specific tools and frameworks to make healthy and sometimes difficult choices in their daily life, including navigating their relationships with others. Financial adviser—Nasirah Banu Ramirez from Great Eastern and Magnavera Advisory—will also facilitate a game to teach the girls about making sound financial decisions when it comes to

About Yuyun Tan, Family and Children’s counsellor
Yuyun Tan is an experienced counsellor from Inside Out Counselling & Wellness Practice. She specialises in the areas of separation/divorce, mental health, trauma and addictions. She works therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults, individually and in groups.

About Nasirah Banu, Senior Financial Consultant
Nasirah Banu is an established financial consultant with Great Eastern and Magnavera Advisory. She has already qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table in her career at such a young age and is the co-owner of three businesses, including one in the medical sector. A former scientist, her interests lie in research and educating future generations about being financially savvy.

FAQs
1. What kind of changes can I expect to see in my daughter after the programme?
Based on our experience, the girls who attend our program emerge more confident in articulating their ambitions and dreams of the future. They also learn how to be kinder to themselves and others and are more aware of making decisions and financial literacy.

2. Will there be any breaks provided?
Yes, there will be short breaks in between the activities as well as a 30-minute lunch break for each day.

3. What happens after the programme has ended?
The girls will be given a soft-copy journal entitled, “I am more than enough” (worth $15) to continue their journey of self-discovery and empowerment. The instructors (Claudine, Yuyun and Nasirah) will also be providing feedback to the girls’ parents about how they fared during the sessions.

4. If my daughter is really introverted, would this program be suitable for her?
Yes, it would be since we are deliberately keeping the group small. We will be establishing a safe and comfortable space for participants to share freely.
